Becoming Catholic

Do you want to know more about the Catholic faith? Do you have family members, friends, or co-workers who have expressed interest in the Catholic Church? Are you married to a Catholic and want your entire family to worship together? Have you been baptized in the Catholic Church but never received First Reconciliation, First Communion, or Confirmation? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program is for all these situations. At St. Francis, the formal sessions of RCIA run from early September through Easter.  Our 2019-2020 sessions began on Wednesday, September 4th and will continue each Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm in Room 108 of the Parish Life Center (the building that includes the Church Offices).  You are still welcome to join us for these sessions.

Some inquirers into the faith will also want their children to join them in the Catholic Church.  We welcome children under 5 years of age and younger through parental participation in baptismal preparation classes (click on “Baptism” on the “Sacraments” dropdown menu above).  In order to enter the Catholic Church, children who are school-age need age-appropriate religious education in a Catholic school or in our Parish Religious Education (PRE) program.  We will work with families to determine how best to meet their needs.

Although no pre-registration is required to attend these RCIA sessions, if you are interested in participating this year, we would like to obtain some information from you in advance which will help us adjust the program to better meet your needs.   Please contact Deacon Mic Hovanec (click for his email address), call the church office at (901) 756-1213, or complete the RCIA Adult Inquirer Information Form below.

The Church welcomes inquirers at all times, even during those months when the formal RCIA sessions are not scheduled. Someone from the RCIA team will be happy to meet with anyone at any time of the year.  Please use the contact information in the paragraph above to let us know of your interest.
