St. Francis Welcomes Fr. Carl Gregorich

Fr. Carl Gregorich is originally from Belleville, IL. He was born on April 29, 1952 and is the oldest of six children.

His calling to the priesthood began at a young age while attending Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in the Diocese of Belleville. His first stirrings occurred in a desire to serve as an altar boy, and soon after, while attending the nightly prayer gatherings during the annual Novena at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows on the feast of the dedication of St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome.

He suppressed these early yearnings and went on to college and work. He spent 39 years following graduation working in sales and marketing for the BNSF Railroad. Although the spiritual inclinations and yearnings never went away, with the Lord’s persistence he finally answered the call to study for the permanent diaconate in the Diocese of Joliet, IL in 2005. He was ordained as a Deacon in 2011.

However, the Lord continued His prompting and with the encouragement of family and friends he was accepted by the Diocese of Memphis in 2015 to begin studies at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology in Wisconsin. Fr. Gregorich was ordained on June 2nd of this year, and his first assignment is as an Associate Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi, replacing Fr. Rob Ballman.  He will join us July 1st.

First Friday Eucharistic Adoration – July 6th

St. Francis of Assisi Church will offer exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the First Friday of July – July 6, 2018. Exposition will begin in the chapel immediately following the 8:15 am Mass and will continue until Benediction at 5:30 pm.  All are welcome to join us in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

Adorers needed!  Drop-ins are welcome.

June is Food Drive Month for the Poor Clare Nuns


The St. Francis of Assisi Parish Ministry for the Poor Clare Nuns is asking for your support. 

During the month of June you can leave your donations in boxes located in the vestibule.

Memorial Day Mass Schedule – May 28th @ 9:00 AM

Monday, May 28th, is Memorial Day.  Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am only. 

There will not be an 8:15 am nor a 12:00 pm Mass.

The parish office and parish life center will be closed in observance.

Please remember in your prayers all of those who gave their lives in the service of their country.

 

 

SFA School Has a New Principal!

The new principal of St. Francis of Assisi School for the 2018-2019 school year has been named – Mrs. Alicia Brown. Mrs. Brown has served St. Francis School for almost twenty-five years in myriad roles as a teacher, Director of Students and most recently as Assistant Principal. We ask that Christ bless Mrs. Brown and guide her in this new position as she works to build on the strengths of our past and set forth a vision to ensure that St. Francis of Assisi School is grounded in the heart of Christ and in the mind of the Church.

St. Francis PRE Students Participate in May Crowning

The month of May is traditionally a time to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. The students brought flowers to PRE on April 29th and honored Mary by processing in and laying the flowers at the base of her statue.  Two students, Isabella Wade and Christian Montiel, were selected to crown her with flowers.
