St. Francis Welcomes Fr. Carl Gregorich

Fr. Carl Gregorich is originally from Belleville, IL. He was born on April 29, 1952 and is the oldest of six children.

His calling to the priesthood began at a young age while attending Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in the Diocese of Belleville. His first stirrings occurred in a desire to serve as an altar boy, and soon after, while attending the nightly prayer gatherings during the annual Novena at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows on the feast of the dedication of St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome.

He suppressed these early yearnings and went on to college and work. He spent 39 years following graduation working in sales and marketing for the BNSF Railroad. Although the spiritual inclinations and yearnings never went away, with the Lord’s persistence he finally answered the call to study for the permanent diaconate in the Diocese of Joliet, IL in 2005. He was ordained as a Deacon in 2011.

However, the Lord continued His prompting and with the encouragement of family and friends he was accepted by the Diocese of Memphis in 2015 to begin studies at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology in Wisconsin. Fr. Gregorich was ordained on June 2nd of this year, and his first assignment is as an Associate Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi, replacing Fr. Rob Ballman.  He will join us July 1st.

Please extend a very warm welcome to Fr. Gregorich!
